On December 9th, 1995 Jill Marker was brutally attacked as she was closing up the Silk Plant Forest store where she worked in Winston-Salem. It’s been thirteen years since that horrendous crime, but the case is receiving fresh attention. Many in the community believe the man serving time for the assault—Kalvin Michael Smith—has been wrongfully convicted. Les Gura, a senior editor at the Winston-Salem Journal, joins host Frank Stasio to review the case and explain why it resonates so deeply in Winston-Salem.
