Below are four (4) audio recordings released as part of the 2007 Best/Reese report.  The Best/Reese report was an internal administrative review by the Winston-Salem Police Department.  It was later withdrawn by the Winston-Salem City Manager when he learned that Lt. Best was the lead detective’s supervisor on this case for the first 11 months of the investigation.   The withdrawal of that report led to the Winston-Salem city council forming the Silk Plant Forest Citizens Review Committee.

These recordings are provided here in FULL.  Nothing has been deleted.  However, by virtue of the commentary that has been added to what the detectives tell Lt. Best and Sgt. Reese in these interviews, you will notice just some of the many faults and inconsistencies in the case
